Progressive Aerodyne, Inc. is a small company that designs and manufactures the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. line of light sport amphibian aircraft. In addition to its popular kit production, the company is expanding its product line to include a certified, factory-built aircraft and is need of assemblers/ machinists. To be considered for this position, you must have a high-school diploma (or GED equivalent) and possess the knowledge, skills and ability to: work effectively with hand tools within tight spaces, lift up to fifty (50) pounds, adhere to company work schedules, and thrive in a typical manufacturing environment where air temperatures fluctuate with weather conditions.
Assembler/Machinist
Job responsibilities:
- Assemble airframe, flying surfaces, landing gear, cockpit and mechanical subassemblies
- Install engines, propellers, wiring harnesses, and fuel tanks
- Operate machines (lathe, mill, CNC, saws, drills) in the onsite shop to build & machine parts
Requirements:
High-school diploma and 2 to 5 years of experience in machine operations and production assembly. The skills required to assemble both large mechanical structures and small components: use hand tools within tight tolerances; work with torqueing screws, light adhesives (such as Loctite), solder and connectors; strip, crimp, heat shrink and ring-out cables; read and understand assembly procedures and mechanical drawings in English; and effectively work with adhesives, lubricants, finishes, coatings and other general manufacturing technologies.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in metal fabrication, composites, pluming, electrical assembly, upholstery assembly, and creative problem solving for mechanical assemblies. A&P Certification is a definite plus.
