The Warehouse Shipping Specialist
is responsible for all aspects of the distribution process at the Gaithersburg site by ensuring the shipment of outgoing items to external customers is performed in accordance to standard operation procedure and cGMP requirements. This position supports the Materials Supervisor in the management of raw materials and finished goods in the warehouse. This role also participates in warehouse improvement projects and safety initiatives as needed.
Fulfills sales orders, packages items for shipment with required documentation, and arranges delivery pickups for the on-time delivery of products to customers.
Enters shipping transactions in the ERP system following FIFO and other customer-specific requirements.
Ensures inventory is stored, labeled, and handled in accordance with cGMP regulations.
Supports the Materials Manager in inventory management by completing cycle counts and investigating and reconciling inventory discrepancies.
Participates in warehouse improvement initiatives such as WCM projects and 5S.
Participates in the Site Safety Program (SMAT), complies with internal and external safety standards, and completes tasks as assigned by management.
Strict adherence and a commitment to carrying out the Corporate and/or local policies, rules, and regulations is required. Under the general direction of the Materials Supervisor, an employee in this position works in the warehouse area shipping all outgoing products at the Saint-Gobain Gaithersburg, MD facility. This position focuses on meeting customers' expectations and must strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers, and other employees.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
HS diploma or equivalent is required
Minimum of 2 years working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is required
Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required
Ability to effectively interpret written and spoken English language is required
Experience with ERP systems is preferred
Experience with completing documentation per GDP requirements is preferred
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Ability to stand/walk for sustained periods of time
Ability to climb/balance & bend/stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl
Hand dexterity
Will be required to complete non-routine tasks as needed (e.g. cleaning of work area which includes exposure to cleaning chemicals)
