Utility Worker
FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Job Goal:
The Somerville Public Schools is now accepting applications for the position of Utility Worker for the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
Responsibilities:
Receives and checks deliveries.
Stores food and supplies in department refrigerators and storage areas.
Maintains, rotates and records inventory.
Operate Food and Nutrition Services Department vehicles.
Operate all kitchen production, packaging and cleaning equipment.
Perform required cleaning tasks.
Perform simple facility maintenance tasks.
Prepares food for service.
Services all Food Service students and customers as needed.
Possesses good customer service and communication skills.
Performs all other related tasks as necessary for the operation of a Food Service Facility.
Qualifications:
Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a driving record in good standing.
Must be nationally certified in applied food service sanitation- may be acquired in on the job training programs with in the first 10 months of employment.
Ability to read, write and speak English.
Ability to pick up and lift/carry 60 pounds in weight.
Ability to successfully pass a physical exam by a physician chosen by the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
Terms of Employment:
37.5 hours per week/42 weeks per year with optional summer employment available as needed.
Benefits include sick time and optional medical and dental insurance.
Cafeteria employees are members of Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Somerville School Committee and The Cafeteria Employees, Council 93, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Local 274
