Profile

Our facility is seeking an individual who, under the direction of the Purchasing and Procurement Officer, will be responsible for assisting with the management and control of all purchasing procedures and day-to-day tasks. This involves the procurement of equipment, materials, supplies and services for the Joint Meeting. The purchasing assistant's responsibilities include researching market trends, maintaining relationships with both vendors and clients, making travel arrangements, inspecting inventory, and updating relevant spreadsheets and documents. The Assistant Purchasing and Procurement Officer will maintain records in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Joint Meeting and the New Jersey Public Contracts Law. The successful candidate must have a strong attention to detail and organizational skills, the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, and experience in coordinating and the preparation of bid documents and specifications. Candidate should be familiar with Edmunds Financial Accounting System or a large scale Windows based purchase order accounting system. Candidate must have effective planning, organizational and communications skills. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Candidate should have previous relevant experience in the private or public sector in purchasing and procurement. Operations Shift Supervisor

Wastewater Treatment Facility in Northern NJ is seeking an individual who will supervise and coordinate the activities of the plant operators during the assigned rotating shift. Also responsible for monitoring the plant operation and process. Summary of Qualifications: Candidate must possess a High School degree or GED. College degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field preferred. Minimum 3 years experience in a wastewater treatment plant operations department plus 3 years supervisory experience. Satisfactory completion of NJDEP certified basic and advanced wastewater operations courses required. Possession and maintaining of a minimum of an S-1 license required or ability to obtain same within one year from the date of hire. Applicant shall have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to all levels of employees. Assistant to Director of Finance

The Joint Meeting of Essex and Union Counties, a Wastewater Treatment facility providing service to constituents in Essex and Union counties is seeking an experienced professional with New Jersey public sector experience for the position of Assistant to the Director of Finance. A successful candidate will be responsible for General Accounting activities such as journal entries, bank reconciliation, treasury reports, preparing monthly and quarterly pension payments, prepare and reconcile payroll accounts with monthly payroll records, reconcile IROC Report with Payroll Records, review monthly invoice and process payment for State Pension and Health Benefits, review monthly employee contributions for State Health Benefits. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, and Excel are required. Must have experience in municipal government. Experience with Edmunds software systems is a plus; Salary discussed upon serious consideration of employment. Plus includes health and pension benefits. Full-time hours 40 hours per week.

Maintenance Mechanic

Working under the direction of the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all the Joint Meeting’s machinery, control equipment and vehicles, with extremely limited supervision. Persons filling this position are assumed to be proficient in the positions, duties and responsibilities and to be developing or refining individual skill sets in anticipation of potential upward career mobility as a Supervisor should position vacancies develop. • High school diploma, GED certification • Completion of a course of study at a Technical School resulting in certification in applicable Mechanical Maintenance knowledge skills and abilities. • A valid driver's license is required. • Minimum of five years of experience on pumps and/or related machinery and equipment commonly used in the wastewater treatment industry. Electrician

Joint Meeting of Essex & Union Counties,(www.jmeuc.com.) a Wastewater Treatment facility located in Elizabeth, NJ, is seeking a full time, permanent Electrician to work with team members within the Electrical Department as well as with operational team members in other departments. Under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor, the qualified candidate must possess knowledge of industrial/commercial electrical circuitry and control systems, be able to read and follow schematics, comprehend wiring diagrams and prints and be familiar with approved methods. Candidate must be knowledgeable in NEC code requirements and safety standards. The ideal candidate shall possess a minimum of 4 Years electrical experience, preferably in a wastewater or industrial environment. Candidate should have a valid NJ Electrical license (preferred), at a minimum, Qualified Journeyman Certificate. A valid driver’s license is required. Position is represented by Teamsters Local 641.
