Performs janitorial/custodial, general housekeeping, washing windows, vacuuming, mopping, floor stripping and waxing, polishing, landscaping, grounds keeping, laborer, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry duties requiring skill in the use of power tools, such as, but not limited to: saws, drills, routers, planes & sanders. and be able to operate heavy equipment, such as, but not limited to: backhoe, loadlugger, tractor, trucks and other standard shift vehicles. Installations and repairs using various epoxies, mastics, joint compound, industrial caulking, primers and paints. Performs repairs, replacement of hardware, locks, closers, hinges, glass, frames access panels, roof hatches docks etc. Uses asphalt patch products, sealers and various repair products. Uses hand and power tools such as shovels, rakes wheel barrels, rollers, grinders, jack hammers, trowels, rakes, etc. Mixes, pours and floats cement, mortar and concrete, plasters and lays brick and block. Communicates effectively and coherently both orally and in writing with internal staff, coworkers, external contacts, visitors and the public. Performs routine mathematical calculations such as but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be physically able to perform work activities that require constant heavy lifting, bending, pulling, stretching, carrying, walking, etc. in an environment that may be dusty, dirty, or pollen-laden, with extremes of temperature. Schedule is Monday through Friday from 0630 hours to 1500 hours. Some overtime and on-call hours are required. Qualifications • Must possess and maintain a valid N.J. driver's license. • High School diploma or equivalency required • Trade School diploma preferred or obtain within 2 years of hire. • Vocational courses in carpentry and masonry preferred • Five (5) years of related work experience required in buildings and grounds that may include, but not be limited to construction, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and other related trades • Candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Electrician

Under the direction of the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, responsible for the inspection, repair and maintenance of electrical and/or electronic operating and control systems, equipment and fixtures, including instrumentation and heating and cooling systems. Some overtime and on­ call may be required. The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements. • Inspects and tests electrical equipment, signal, and communication and power circuits. • Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances • Using hand tools and testing instruments. • Isolates defects in wiring switches, motors, and other electrical equipment. • Replaces faulty switches, sockets and other simple elements of electrical systems. • Add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. • Comply with all safety regulations • Communicate effectively orally and in writing • Mounts motors, transformers and lighting fixtures into position. • Reads diagram specifications related to the task. • Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts, such as gears, brushes and armatures.

Collections Operator

The Joint Meeting of Essex and Union Counties (www.jmeuc.com), located in Elizabeth New Jersey, is seeking a Wastewater Collection System Operator who, along with other team members, will be responsible for performing various Collection System operation and maintenance tasks for both in house and in the field. The team is responsible for the entire 43 miles of Joint Meeting original trunk and supplementary sanitary sewer lines within the tributary municipalities serviced by the Joint Meeting. The following is required: • A High School degree or equivalency. • A Valid driver’s license with no serious recent violations. • A C-1 License or the ability to obtain said license within 2 years of appointment. • A minimum of 2 years of direct experience performing duties related to Collection System Operation & Maintenance. Operations Shift Supervisor

Wastewater Treatment Facility in Northern NJ is seeking an individual who will supervise and coordinate the activities of the plant operators during the assigned rotating shift. Also responsible for monitoring the plant operation and process. Summary of Qualifications: Candidate must possess a High School degree or GED. College degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field preferred. Minimum 3 years experience in a wastewater treatment plant operations department plus 3 years supervisory experience. Satisfactory completion of NJDEP certified basic and advanced wastewater operations courses required. Possession and maintaining of a minimum of an S-1 license required or ability to obtain same within one year from the date of hire. Applicant shall have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to all levels of employees. Maintenance Mechanic

Working under the direction of the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all the Joint Meeting’s machinery, control equipment and vehicles, with extremely limited supervision. Persons filling this position are assumed to be proficient in the positions, duties and responsibilities and to be developing or refining individual skill sets in anticipation of potential upward career mobility as a Supervisor should position vacancies develop. • High school diploma, GED certification • Completion of a course of study at a Technical School resulting in certification in applicable Mechanical Maintenance knowledge skills and abilities. • A valid driver's license is required. • Minimum of five years of experience on pumps and/or related machinery and equipment commonly used in the wastewater treatment industry. Salary range $30.00 to $38.00 per hour Position is represented by Teamsters Local 641.
