Department: Warehouse Months worked out of the Year: 12 months FTE: 1.0 Work hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Shift Differential: None Starting Salary Range: Range: S-I: $67,012 (Step A) or $70,362 (Step B) or $73,880 (Step C) Based on education and experience Anticipated Start Date: April 2022 Job Description SUMMARY: Under the direction of an assigned manager, coordinate and supervise the operation and activities of all warehouse locations districtwide and related functions; train, supervise and evaluate personnel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Organize, coordinate and supervise warehouse operations and activities, including the receipt, storage and distribution of equipment and supplies and maintenance of inventory. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work and participate in the selection of new personnel as assigned. Prepare and maintain a variety of records, files, logs and reports related to warehouse operations, activities and functions. Operate and demonstrate the use of specialized warehouse equipment such as forklifts as necessary. Instruct, train and certify districtwide employees that have duties for forklifts, pallet jack and electric pallet jack operation. Monitor that forklift licenses are up-to-date for all districtwide employees that are forklift operators. Manage vehicle smog inspections districtwide and prepare required state documents; liaison closely with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). Supervise the receipt, inspection and delivery of supplies, materials and equipment; assure conformance with purchase orders; note and report shortages, damage or other discrepancies as appropriate. Supervise the storage and distribution of supplies, materials and equipment. Coordinate the packing and shipping of equipment for repairs and the return of materials incorrectly ordered or received. Supervise the identification and marking of capital equipment for inventory; maintain a perpetual physical inventory of capital equipment. Coordinate and supervise the receipt, storage and sale or donation of district surplus or salvaged equipment. Coordinate with districtwide departments for the installation or removal of construction bond project supplies, equipment and surplus. Maintain district stores system of office and custodial supplies; maintain computerized inventory and order supplies as needed. Oversee the delivery of mail and other materials between campuses, district facilities and external locations. Oversee the destruction of non-permanent records. Prepare and submit budget requests as directed; recommend the repair or replacement of departmental equipment; order materials and supplies as needed. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Participate on various committees as assigned. Maintain departmental area(s) in a safe, clean and orderly condition; assure compliance with established safety procedures and regulations. Perform related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Modern warehousing and storekeeping procedures including shipping, receiving and issuing materials, proper and orderly storage, optimum space utilization and stock inventory procedures. Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Maintain records and prepare reports. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Education Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience Three years increasingly responsible experience in a warehouse facility including one year experience in a warehouse position with lead level responsibilities. Preferred experience: One year experience as a warehouse supervisor. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver's license. Valid forklift operation certification. Possession of valid forklift trainer certification or otherwise required to obtain within 6 months of hire. WORKING CONDITIONS: Warehouse environment; subject to heavy lifting and exposure to temperature extremes.
