SUMMARY
Bering Straits Technical Services, LLC (BSTS), a subsidiary of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., is currently seeking an internal Ft. Irwin Installation Support Project employee that is qualified for the Lead Laborer Grounds opening. The Lead, Grounds Maintenance works closely with the Roads & Grounds Site Supervisor.  Assigns and performs work in grounds services under the supervision of the Site Supervisor and in the absence of the Site Supervisor.  Performs operator maintenance of equipment and vehicles.  Ensures that safe working conditions exist and that safe work practices are followed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides guidance to laborers, schedules and evaluates daily work performed.
Interacts well with customers and fellow employees to create a good working environment.
Trains employees on equipment as necessary.
Performs a wide variety of tasks, but not limited to mowing, policing, trimming, equipment sign-out sheets, vehicle dispatches, 2404 forms and key logs.
Operates vehicles and equipment safely and properly to comply with all legal and contractual requirements.
Performs operator maintenance and safety checks on all vehicles and equipment used.
Coordinates projects with and provides daily updates to the Site Supervisor.
Supplementary Functions May Include: 
Participation in functional specific training that promotes a safe work environment.
May perform duties in lower related job classifications.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications
Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess a valid California Driver’s License. Ability to obtain a HDSS vehicle operations license within sixty (60) days of hire
Five (5) years experience in grounds maintenance.
Must be an internal union hire within the Ft. Irwin Installation Support contract
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Must manage multiple tasks.
Knowledge of landscaping equipment and operational requirements preferred.
Demonstrates qualified skills on all ground’s equipment.
Performs limited maintenance on vehicles and tools to include checking engine/brakes/fuel/tires/water.
Ability to work without supervision.
Must be able to communicate effectively, to include reading, writing, understanding and speaking English fluently.
Must use good judgement and common sense when performing job functions.
Must be punctual.
Must follow written and verbal instructions.
Must operate equipment safely to task specification under all environmental conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
Job is performed with frequent exposure to dust, desert pollen, extreme heat and cold associated with desert environment and natural conditions existing on Fort Irwin. Work week is Monday-Friday and hours are from 0700-1530. Overtime is needed as required. Travel within Fort Irwin may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
