Using your expertise, the Advanced Optics Technician will provide hands-on support on the installation and/or repair of systems to restricted customers, users or company personnel, either at domestic or international field sites. We'll count on you to perform a variety of equipment/process operations involving an application or technical skills in a specific area (optical, electrical, software, mechanical, manufacturing, etc.). You'll interpret complex engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics to understand the necessary interfaces.

**THIS IS A 2ND SHIFT POSITION**
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Studies routings, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine sequence of operations and setup requirements
Performs a variety of equipment/process operations involving an application or technical skills in a specific area (optical, mechanical, manufacturing, etc.)
May serve as company representative with customers on technical matters associated with equipment and systems being installed/deployed on projects
Devises inspection methods to inspect and check components according to customer specifications and requirements or uses established standard methods
Determines allowable variations. Establishes critical values for surface finishes, wavefront error and interference fits at ambient and operating temperatures
Uses precision measuring equipment to determine wavefront error
Inspects surfaces to establish values of roughness, scratch/dig and wavefront error. Makes determination as to disposition for appropriate corrective action
Assembles components and verifies dimensional values. Disassemble and recheck as required
Lapping and polishing of various types of metals and glass using an interferometer to determine figure of work piece
Creates and maintains lap and polishing tooling as required for figuring of the optic
Gold plating of optical elements to meet spectral requirements per customer specifications
Maintains traceability of material by keeping lot items together or serialized
Verifies, by initials or approved stamp, conformance of work piece to process specifications
Maintains equipment and immediate work area in a clean and orderly condition
Efficient at interpreting three-dimensional drawings (i.e. CAD models)
Promote continuous product improvement by conceptualizing and implementing new procedures, processes or fixtures
