SUMMARY:

The position of MS-WWTO is responsible for assisting the supervisor in the general operation of the WWTP. This position also has the extra duties of providing guidance and instruction in the event the supervisor is not present. The team member will also float in for operators that are not working their regular schedule, including vacations and last-minute call-ins. This position is also responsible for maintaining inventory of all wastewater chemicals, parts, and critical equipment, verifying preventative maintenance tasks are complete, performing routine inspections, maintaining training for all wastewater operators, and communicating deficiencies in operations throughout the environmental department.

This position also includes the responsibilities of wastewater operator which includes: operation of wastewater analysis laboratory; operation and maintenance of wastewater collection system; operation and maintenance of wastewater pre-treatment system; operation and maintenance of wastewater full treatment system or operation and maintenance of any other type of water or wastewater treatment system. Activities may include, but are not limited to: collecting samples for analysis in accordance with EPA, state and/or health departments regulations; performing a variety of chemical analysis (both in and out of a laboratory setting); making system adjustments based on interpretation of results from chemical analysis; making educated decisions on maintaining regulatory compliance; performing mathematical calculations utilizing basic algebraic formulas and a calculator; completing computerized reports; compiling information and correctly completing monthly reports as required by permits, state authority, EPA or corporate management; utilization of basic organizational skills, basic mechanical skills, basic electrical wiring skills; proper communication of current operational status to upper management; maintaining operations logs; performing minor to major maintenance on equipment; operation of a jack/fork lift.REQUIREMENTS:Education: High school diploma or equivalent, Wastewater License A level preferredExperience: 2 years Wastewater experience (required)Computer Skills: Basic computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word and ExcelCommunication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills arecriticalOther Requirements: Successful candidate must have a valid driver'slicense, and will be required to obtain higher levels of certificationand training up to Level B Wastewater license at this facility. Any team member who failsto meet and maintain the minimum qualification levels as required byTyson Wastewater operator policy will be disqualified as MS-WWTO and offered theopportunity to bid out, be reassigned or terminated.

Physical Requirements: Physically lifting of heavy objects (50-75pounds), climbing and/or descending stairs or ladders, grounds keeping,painting, general housekeeping, working in unsanitary conditions,working with hazardous chemicals, obtaining/maintaining HAZ-MATtraining.
