Description:
The University of Plymouth has a reputation for high quality, internationally-leading education, research and innovation. We continue to build on what’s already an outstanding student experience, which means providing our students and staff with the latest in technology and excellent support to ensure seamless AV/IT functionality. Due to internal promotions we are recruiting to our Technical Services team and looking for someone special to join us and discover a University that’s bursting with ambition, potential and opportunities for talented staff to develop. As an AV Technician in the Technical Services team, you will provide first and second line support for Audio Visual services. Additionally, the role requires AV installation work to a professional finish and live events support including sound engineering and lighting. There will be further opportunities to work on AV project design and control system configuation. You will have the skills and develop knowledge of University services to resolve common faults and own their resolution end to end. Each day offers different challenges to face in a fast-paced, ever changing environment as you log and prioritise work and escalate high priority issues, provide advice to staff on operation of installed systems, update records and knowledge bases which will build your knowledge and skills as you meet each and every challenge. Whatever the task, you’ll provide great customer service and keep all parties informed through each stage of the process. When you are unable to resolve the issue immediately, you will consult with colleagues as necessary to ensure operations are restored as swiftly as possible. At this level, you will have prior experience in a customer service orientated role supporting AV/IT services. We will also be looking for relevant education qualifications and professional certification (or equivalent experience). Success in the role relies upon an analytical approach to problem-solving and strong communication skills. It’s also important that you’re highly effective working in a team and have an excellent manner with the customer. Please note that this role also involves providing out of hours support on occasion. With our diverse training there’s every chance to build a career, working with some of the latest technology here in the stunning Southwest. For an informal discussion please contact Paul Dent, Technical Services Team Leader by email p.dent@plymouth.ac.uk or Mobile 07891 564803. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. Flexible working options including job share will be considered. A current full driving licence is essential (manual transmission) as you will be driving University of Plymouth vehicles. The University of Plymouth is a diverse, welcoming community where everyone makes a difference and is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
