This position is responsible for setting up and operating equipment that mixes or blends ingredients used in the manufacturing of food products while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Summary
COMPLETED LOCKOUT/TAGOUT TRAINING REQUIRED before training or operating line. Operates the mixer, water meter, oil system, dough pump and flour hopper as defined in Production Manual. Prepares for start-up or shut down of equipment. Keeps a legible accurate record as required including Blender Operators Log. Stops the machine to make required adjustments, following lockout-tagout policy. Maintains good manufacturing practices and personal hygiene. Keeps department clean and neat. Notifies Supervisor and QC of contamination. Must adhere to all safety policies and operate equipment in a safe manner. Responsible for monitoring and reporting any wear and tear on equipment. Knows the appropriate amount of ingredients and correct mix cycle times as defined in Production Manual SOP and understand Automated Ingredient System. Blends dough to specification maintaining proper temperature, moisture and texture. Supplies dough to production lines, ensuring continuous supply. Monitors dough usage to ensure minimum waste (dough or time). Knows how to respond to external conditions which may affect dough quality. Responsible for entering information into the Plant. View system. Keeps a legible accurate record as required including entering data as needed in to Plant View. MUST ATTEND DAILY END OF SHIFT MEETINGS IF GOALS NOT MET FOR THEIR SHIFT. Responsible for following company policies/procedures written or verbal. Performs all other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for the Position
Requires flexibility of wrists and hands. Walking, bending, standing and lifting required. Lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Must be able to move heavy objects (100 lbs.) with mechanical device. Must be able to understand and navigate through the Automated Ingredient System screens. Use and read scales and thermometers. Must be able to use a calculator to figure proper blend specifications, pre-mix weights, and other ingredient amounts (add, subtract, divide, and multiply). Must be able to read the Operator’s Logs, Mixer SOP’s, and related documentation. Must be able to write production recordings in the Operator’s Logs and complete production documentation accurately. Must be able to perform the Blender Operator Training Checklist job tasks by the end of the 10-working day trial period. Must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Applicant must have 3 months of continuous machine operator experience preferred.
