SUMMARY

Global Asset Technology, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified IPPOS Mobile Trainer IIs for immediate part-time employment.

The International Police Peacekeeping Operations Support (IPPOS) Program provides trainers and logistical management to the US Department of State - Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL). The goal is to help build the capacity of police contributing countries (PCCs) to deploy qualified, well-trained, and well equipped police officers to international peacekeeping mission. This is achieved through specialized and standardized pre-deployment trainings, Command Staff and Trainer Development courses, country/facility assessments, and curriculum development.

Current locations: Cameroon, Ghana, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo – Africa

Future locations: TBD

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Training Team Leader during identification, development, implementation, and management

of the program

Develop, refine, or finalize training curriculum

Ensure only vetted and approved trainees are trained

Conduct pre-training assessments and assist in the drafting and submission of the assessment reports when required

Deliver, co-teach, and mentor pre-deployment training in-country based on the government approved training curriculum, including training of trainer courses

Encourage host country trainers to take on increasing responsibility for training delivery

Assist in the implementation of contract Performance Measurement Plan to track process of trainees and training

Track, monitor, and evaluate training and trainees based on the contract Performance measurement toolkit and plan

If required, participate in a monitoring and evaluation team to evaluate effectiveness of trained PCC peacekeepers in a multilateral mission

Travel overseas to and within countries that are considered dangerous or unhealthy or other adverse environment

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

Five (5) years as an active, sworn position in a full service law enforcement agency.

Certified police trainer

with at least two (2) years training experience (must provide all training history including classes taught, length of class, number of hours taught, name and location of police institution, and audience)

Experience in curriculum development and capacity building

Knowledge of multilateral/multidimensional peacekeeping operations

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Experience working/living in developing and/or post-conflict countries

Must be willing and capable of working in a fluid environment, under challenging circumstances

Must demonstrate ability to work well in a team environment and with trainers from another country

Must be able to deliver police training to foreign nationals through a language assistant

Must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to assess the capabilities of at least five (5) of the following skill sets:

Human rights

Gender violence issues

Community policing and problem solving

Crowd control and public order maintenance

Proper use of UN standard firearms – rifle, pistol, and grenade launchers

Defensive tactics and self defense

Tactical progression

Basic police techniques

VIP protection

Check points

First aid and CPR

Land navigation, map reading, and GPS

Driver Training

UN System and operations in peacekeeping

Preferred

Ability to speak and read foreign languages, especially French or Arabic

Prior UN peacekeeping experience or international police training and mentoring experience

Familiarity with mission planning and organizational development in developing or post-conflict environments

UN Police training certification

Demonstrated superior performance implementing an INL field-based training project

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Trainer must be willing and able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Trainer will be deployed for periods up to 16 weeks with limited access to western medical facilities. Trainer will be working in austere environments and will likely spend several hours a day out of doors in hot climates.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Employees who are required to travel in connection with an order, must be physically able to travel to the intended destination and remain there without significant health risk for the required period. Employees will be responsible for assuring they have received the proper immunizations and take proper health measures before, during, and after said travel.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
