WHAT’S THE ROLE

On a day to day basis, the craftworker repairs and maintains process equipment. This includes disassembling/assembling equipment, machining and fabrication of parts, troubleshooting, and overall maintenance of equipment. Repairs and troubleshooting may be done on equipment such as pumps, compressors, fans, valves, blowers, conveyors and gearboxes. Fabrication and machining would be accomplished using such machines as lathes, vertical and horizontal mills and welding machines. While this position is for a machinist, the successful applicant will also spend time working as a mechanic.

Specific duties include:

Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers

Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders

Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products

Be able to fabricate parts from conceptual design discussion with colleagues and management

Provide feedback to engineers about the feasibility of fabricating their specified part

Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools

Movemachinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks

Repairor maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment

Fabricate areplacement part from broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment

Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs

Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery

Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear

Analyzetest results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems

Recordparts or materials used and reorder or requisition new parts or materials as necessary

Requirements:

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa

Must be at least 18 years old

Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently

Must have the minimum of a high school diploma or GED

Willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends

Willing to meet call-out standards and respond to site responsibilities and emergencies

Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation

Willing to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation

Willing to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights with or without accommodation

Willing to drive a forklift and operate light industrial equipment.

Able to work while wearing a respirator or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States

As a part of the pre-employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from all pre-employment background, drug, medical, and reference checks, including hair and oral fluids drug testing.

Must have a minimum of five (5) years current and continuous mechanical experience in an industrial environment

Must have knowledge of solids handling equipment, which includes but is not limited to belt, feed screw, and pneumatic conveyor systems, as well as bucket elevators

Must have knowledge of kiln and calciner operation

Must have experience working in an extrudate plant

Must have experience working with and around hazardous chemicals

Must be skilled in overhauling rotating equipment – pumps, gearboxes, and blowers

Must be skilled at inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing mullers

Must be skilled at how to operate a lathe, mill, grinder, drill press, and press break
