JOB SUMMARY

The Security Service Technician will install, test, troubleshoot and repair all aspects of our security systems including access control, Intercom, and IP video systems at customer sites. The Service Technician interacts directly with the client, client representatives, other contractors and other personnel to ensure successful service and repair solutions. The Service Technician will ensure that service orders are completed accurately and on time, and that these services meet or exceed client expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.

Technical background in Video security systems, Access control, and Electronic Technology (low voltage)

Installing low voltage security systems in a new construction and existing commercial environment.

Terminating and installing end devices such as badge readers, motion detectors, mag locks, door strikes, IP and analog cameras, focusing camera lenses, etc.

Working with various systems: AMAG, GE, Pelco, Panasonic, Bosch, Salient, and Samsung Cameras.

Read and interpret blue prints and schematics

Perform preventative maintenance on access control and video systems and provide updates to management.

Video security systems and camera installation (Salient)

Work with Commercial Access Control, CCTV, IP Video, and Security System installations. Understand and interact with LAN systems as a part of an overall security installation

Applies electrical code to troubleshoot and resolve basic electrical wiring / circuitry problems, install and repair electrical equipment and wiring, roughing in feeders, branch circuit cables and circuits, splice electric or communication cables/trunk lines, and trimming out (finishing) electrical devices.

Uses electrical test equipment, gauges and other measuring devices to test electrical equipment.

Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.

Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.

Reviews historical maintenance records to develop proactive inspection, testing and preventive maintenance schedule.

Operates company vehicle in a safe manner and follows prescribed routines to service locations in a timely manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in a security service technician role.

Completion a formal apprenticeship program preferred. Prior experience with DDC and EMS preferred.

Programming experience and working knowledge of test equipment such as multi-meters is preferred.

Software House, S2, IDenticard, AMAG, American Dynamics, GE, Pelco Panasonic, Bosch, Hardware and Software installation experience preferred.

Familiarity with IP Network video and Network Video Recorders (NVR) preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Valid driver's license required.

AMAG Certification preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles and to understand operating budgets. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Uses computer for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Decisions made with thorough knowledge of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
