What is the role?

This position is part of the quality control group at Shell Catalysts & Technologies Manufacturing Site in Martinez California. Analytical results of intermediate and finished products are used to determine if the process is in control and that finished goods meet specification. Additionally, you will be an integral part of the ISO 9000 process and involved in critical tasks to maintain ISO 9000 certification. Position will require working at least one weekend day.

Accountabilities:

Sample preparation and analysis of intermediate and finished products using various analytical methods. Analytical methods use a variety of equipment including ICP, AA and GC.

Perform data entry into the laboratory information system database and communicate results to operations. Completion of all logs and records related to sample analysis.

Monitor the inventory of chemicals and supplies in the laboratory using the laboratory inventory system and notify manager when materials need to be ordered.

Prepare hazardous and non-hazardous samples for shipment.

Maintain statistical quality control systems and highlight cases where analytical results are outside the statistical quality control bands.

Be an internal auditor for the ISO 9000 program.

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

High School Diploma / GED required.

Minimum of three (3) years of laboratory experience required.

Computer literacy is a must. Applicant should be comfortable working with computers as the instruments use a variety of software programs. Required computer skills are a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Must have good organizational and time management skills as well as the ability and desire to learn new skills.

Ability to multi-task is essential.
