POSITION PROFILE
Knoll is excited to announce an entry- level opportunity for those intrigued by the craft of upholstery! Our Upholstered Goods Crafter works with iconic pieces within the Seating Department at the East Greenville, PA facility. Those hired into this position will develop basic familiarity with sewing and upholstery, while becoming skilled with hand tools, measuring devices, spray guns, presses and hot melt guns. They will take ownership of their work, while utilizing a “best practice” mindset to drive safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
T
his is a 2nd shift position; M-F from 2:15 PM - 10:15 PM
Learning the craft of upholstery by mastering introductory sewing upholstery and all required tools/equipment. This will include the use of air tools and fixtures, staple guns, drills, crimpers, drivers, impact drivers, hog ringer, rivet drivers, hydraulic presses and drilling fixtures.
Responsibly setting-up, operating, and performing minor maintenance to machines.
Reading and interpreting paperwork associated with all job assignments.
Utilize aesthetic judgement to make minor adjustments to pieces.
Trouble-shooting production problems and assist with developing methods for improvement.
Wrapping and packing components and sub-assemblies to Knoll’s quality standards.
Promotes several key company work-life objectives (safety, quality, productivity, on-time order completion, etc.).
Effectively practicing safe, productive, and knowledgeable use of all applicable equipment and hand tools in all seating lines.
Assisting fellow associates with assignments.
Additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED), or work experience which demonstrates performance competency.
Required Experience
The ability to read and interpret applicable instructions and measuring devices.
Associate should possess basic industrial knowledge.
Team-oriented and willingness to learn new skills, tools or equipment.
Upholstery/Assembly experience is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT – REQUIREMENTS
The ability to work in a high noise environment - dust, fork truck exhaust and heavy fork truck traffic.
Associate can work effectively in a small space.
Able to perform manual work of a repetitive nature – this may require material handling, lifting, reaching, pushing, bending, pulling and twisting.
Some heavy lifting required.
