Shell Pipeline Company LP has an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Technician to be based out of the Coalinga, California. The role of Electrical Technician is to provide daily troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of electrical field equipment, to perform regulatory inspections, and to participate in reviews of project design, construction, and modification to existing facilities. This individual will complete documentation for all regulatory inspections and support the Management of Change Process

The Electrical Technician in the Coalinga area will work closely with the Mechanical Technicians, Meter Technicians, and Pipeline Technicians to help organize job tasks associated with the work inside of the group. The tasks include but are not limited to regulatory inspections, reactive workload, and preventative workloads to keep the electrical equipment and the asset operational. This will be accomplished through the utilization of SAP, R&I, as well as the Shell I&M manuals. This position will require good communication skills to all levels of the organization

As an Electrical Technician:

Have a Technical background with industrial electrical knowledge and 5 years experience with Crude Oil pipeline and systems is a must

Have a strong safety acumen/attitude, demonstrated safe work record

Be able to work in a team environment and lead in troubleshooting efforts

Be a self-starter, and able to work with minimal supervision

Good oral, written communications skills

Strong computer skills are desired

Ability to obtain a TWIC card

Knowledge in understanding electrical & mechanical drawings and P&CD's

Knowledge of Shell applications i.e. SOU, SAP, Livelink

Innovative thinker and highly accountable

Accountabilities:

Maintenance and repair of electrical equipment include, but is not limited to:

Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’s), Flow computers

Communication systems, control systems, electric motors

Motor operated valves, high voltage switchgear, process instrumentation, and general electrical maintenance, etc.

SAP Maintenance execution responsibilities as well as documentation that goes along with it include:

Following the I&M manual and inputting into the annual updates of the I&M manual.

The leadership of contractors on an as need basis

Utilization of the PTW (permit to work) process in all aspects of the job

Dimensions:

Responsible for:

Executing small Capital and Special Maintenance projects within budget

managing contract staff when used to assist with projects

communicating scope & cost estimates for recurring work to keep costs within established budgets

maintain inventory in the area of responsibility

Special Challenges:

Must be able to multi-task and be able to continuously re-prioritize work tasks due to the demand of keeping the systems operational.

This position covers a large area and a wide range of equipment

This position has a regularly scheduled work schedule, but weekend and evening callouts can be expected. This includes Holidays

Requirements:

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa

Must be at least 18 years old

Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently

Previous experience with the use of SAP is preferred

Demonstrated understanding of industry HSSE guidelines and best practices

Demonstrated ability with time management

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate internally and with third party customers

Demonstrated ability to use Windows 360 and common PC/office equipment (type, read, write and email)

Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States

To attend to emergencies, successful candidates must reside within 60 minutes of the site, or be willing to relocate to within 60 minutes of the site without relocation assistance

Willing to work a rotating shift work schedule

Willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends

Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies

As a part of the pre-employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from a pre-employment medical screening, background check and drug tests including hair and oral fluids
