This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
PDM maintenance will work closely with Engineers, Maintenance Supervisors, TPM Supervisor and the Maintenance Manager to minimize equipment downtime and life cycle costs. He/she will utilize PdM technologies to help identify equipment defects in their early stages, promote precision maintenance practices and use PdM technologies to evaluate the quality of repairs and installations.
Provide basic mechanical and electrical maintenance duties requiring the utilization of current maintenance practices. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical maintenance on all production equipment including ovens, Formax’s freezers, Grinders and all other manufacturing systems plant wide. Work on project type work that may include welding and fabrication. Be able to read manuals and blue prints. Work daily with the manufacturing personnel to help with startup and training of operators. Be able to trouble shoot from electrical prints. Review the machine guarding on a daily basis and make sure the equipment is being used properly. Must be willing and able to lift up to 100lbs. Must be willing and able to work in an environment with extreme temperatures ranging from 39F to 90F. Maintain a clean work area and help clean the maintenance shop on a rotation basis. Help train the new level one mechanics as needed. In the event of absence the next level down the organizational chart covers for the next level up. Employee has an individual responsibility to report all possible deficiencies or practices that could compromise food safety. Employee is to adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Safely collect, analyze and report on the general health of the assets assigned based on data
Assist in the construction of an Asset Health Data Base and its subsequent maintenance
Generate recurring reports concerning Asset Health, repair recommendations and any recurring deficiencies as directed
Participate/lead in problem-solving events
Initiate work orders within Maximo and track to their completion
Qualifications
At a minimum, Class 5 Maintenance Associate
Must be able to travel in order to attend formal training in thermography & ultrasound and ultimately achieve certifications in both.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to work independently, and must be results oriented
Good problem solving techniques
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word.
Supervision Received:
Minimal – Must be able to establish equipment routes, gather and analyze data, generate reports with minimum supervision. A self-starter, goal oriented and good time management skills.
Service Relationships:
Critical and frequent contact and relationships are required with Engineering, Operations, QA, and Maintenance personnel. External contacts include vendors, contractors, consultants, engineers, and government agencies.
Physical Demands:
Position has work posture requirements, such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, driving, etc. Subject to work hazards and cold, wet environments.
Mental Demands:
Independent judgment with analytical skills in formulating decisions concerning variable problems and creative solutions is required.
Requirements:
Must have 2 years production maintenance experience.
Required electrical troubleshooting experience including reading schematics and electrical prints.
Required PLC troubleshooting experience including the ability to read Ladder Logic.
Be able to furnish own tools.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school graduate. BS preferred in a technical field of study
5 – 7 years maintenance mechanic/technician
3 to 5 years experience with Maximo or other CMMS
Computer skills
Excel – ability to create, edit, and maintain spreadsheets and create reports
Word – ability to create memos and reports
PowerPoint – ability to create and edit presentations
Access – ability to create databases, forms, and reports
