POSITION SUMMARY:

Manage PVH’s domestic retail and wholesale freight claims processing and resolution across all modes of transportation.  Manage all aspects of PVH’s private fleet (herein referred to as “private fleet” or “drivers”).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:           

Domestic Operation Responsibilities

Position Title:                  Domestic Operations / Fleet Manager

  • Manage transportation function associated with getting product through the supply chain at a cost contingent on the service required
  • Manage establishment of desk procedures and updating departmental SOP’s
  • Oversee 3 PL’s performance in Spring Garden, NY, Keasbey, NJ, Compton, CA and Savannah, GA, ensuring constant flow of product to the DC’s
  • Analyze statistical performance of 3PL’s to insure they are operating cost effectively and efficiently
  • Manage the flow of inbound containers and air freight by need-by date, monitor volume levels to insure timely deliveries are made to PVH DC’s
  • Manage the flow of inbound DDP freight, monitor routing to insure proper instructions are followed including chargebacks for non-compliance
  • Manage pre-paid special projects including but not limited to EOQ, EOY and reporting
  • Manage carrier relations and negotiate annual carrier contract adjustments
  • Manage refused and returned merchandise process
  • Monitor the Air and Ground Authorization Process and corporate performance
  • Visit DC’s and understand their processes, providing assistance when requested
  • Manage and solve wholesale transportation related issues

Private Fleet Responsibilities

  • Monitor our private fleet transportation activity through the supply chain ensuring prompt delivery to all assigned lanes
  • Maintain and analyze statistical performance and cost data for our private fleet  
  • Identify service and driver performance issues, document and communicate issues to  Director of Transportation
  • Manage daily interaction with our drivers ensuring PVH’s policies/procedures and USDOT regulations are being followed
  • Verify mandated DOT paperwork is filed and maintained
  • Manage our private fleet’s operating authorities and any driver fees insuring the payment of local, state and federal governmental taxes are current
  • Secure external loads for our private fleet through sales calls
  • Monitor drop trailer pools via electronic tracking systems
  • Monitor driver’s electronic logs and insure compliance
  • Conduct safety meetings with drivers
  • Manage the budget detail and profitability of the private fleet operation
  • Work closely with contracted equipment leasing companies to assure an appropriate maintenance program is in place and all reported data from the leasing company is accurate and timely
  • Union contract (CBA) administration and participation in negotiations

    Corporate Claim Responsibilities

  • Monitor the Loss and Damage Claim process and corporate reporting
  • Manage all aspects of the Retail and Wholesale claims process
  • Respond properly and timely to any service provider questioning or disputing a claim
  • Manage Freight Bill Deduction Process for retail claims
  • Manage and monitor claim settlements
  • Manage the destruction of damaged goods

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Internal - Significant interaction with W&D staff at all levels; Retail Traffic associates, Import Transportation associates; all retail and wholesale division’s management.     

External - Daily interaction with service providers, equipment leasing companies, shippers and our private fleet drivers. Service providers from all modes of transportation including truckload, LTL, airfreight, small package carriers and potential 3PL’s.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct – Sr. Transportation Coordinator(s); Transportation Coordinator(s); private fleet drivers.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Private fleet P&L and the payment and/or writing off of transportation claims. 

DECISION MAKING:

Must be able to make timely decisions and give precise direction to the PVH’s private fleet drivers. These decisions must be made in conjunction with company and departmental policies, local, state and federal laws and current customer contractual agreements. Must be able to evaluate information, prioritize objectives and make sound decisions based on all available information.

RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY:

  • Given the complexities of this position, maintaining a current knowledge of laws and industry            regulations governing trucking operations and claims resolution is of the most importance.
  • Communicate with appropriate internal / external contacts to effectively perform job functions
  • Assess situations utilizing industry knowledge and best practices to resolve issues
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects while adhering to deadlines
  • Detail-oriented in all aspects of the job including directives for driver dispatch and claims         resolution

    ENVIRONMENT:

    Fast-paced environment strong communication skills with the ability to think and react quickly to changing situations while maintaining professionalism and keeping the best interests of the company the top priority.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    Experience – 6 years of managing all aspects of a fleet of trucks and drivers plus 4 years of transportation claim experience.

            

    Education – Min 2yr degree w/ equivalent experience. Concentration in logistics or business preferred.

    Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal (USDOT) trucking laws and industry regulations
  • Willingness to embrace continued education in order to stay current of changing laws and industry regulations and best practices
  • Strong negotiating skills for sales calls
  • Knowledge of how all modes of transportation work
  • Working knowledge of claim filing and laws/regulations governing carrier claims
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Detail oriented                  
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
