Description:
The University of Plymouth has a reputation for high quality, internationally-leading education, research and innovation. We continue to build on what’s already an outstanding student experience. And that means providing our student and staff with the latest tech and excellent support to ensure AV/IT works. We are recruiting to our Technical Service’s team and looking for someone special to join us and discover a University that’s bursting with ambition, potential and opportunities for talented staff to develop. As an AV technician in the Technical Services team, you will provide first and second line support for Audio Visual services. In addition the role requires AV installation work to a professional finish and live events support including sound engineering and lighting. There will be opportunities to work on AV project design. You will have the skills and develop knowledge of University services to resolve common faults and own their resolution end to end. Every day will be different in a fast pace and ever changing environment as you log and prioritise work and escalate high priority issues; advise staff on ‘how to’ update records and knowledge bases which will build your knowledge and skills as you meet each and every challenge. Whatever the task, you’ll provide great customer service and keep all parties informed. When you can’t fix the problem straight away, you’ll consult with colleagues as necessary. At this level, you will have experience in a customer service orientated role supporting AV/IT services. We’ll also be looking for relevant education qualifications and professional certification (or equivalent experience). What will help you succeed in the role is an analytical approach to problem-solving and strong communication skills. It’s also important that you’re highly effective working in a team and great with customers. Please note that this role also involves providing out of hours support on occasion. With our diverse training, there’s every chance to build a career, working with some of the latest tech, here in the stunning southwest. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Paul Dent: by email at p.dent@plymouth.ac.uk Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 3 October 2022 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. Flexible working options including job share will be considered. The University of Plymouth is a diverse, welcoming community where everyone makes a difference and is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
