Profile
With minimal supervision the MRO Technician stocks and replenishes parts, tools and supplies etc. to support the safe and effective operation of a state of the art, team based, and highly automated meat processing/packaging facility located in Kansas City, KS. The MRO Technician helps to control access to a limited access MRO storage area and provides excellent customer service to their maintenance and operational customer. Work with preferred vendors and suppliers to determine the optimum stocking levels, order points and order quantities for all required parts. Take part in periodic cycle counts and complete physical inventories. Understand LEAN and 5S concepts and work to continually improve the safety, service and housekeeping in all areas of accountability. Work closely with the Maintenance Planners and Supervisors to understand the tools, parts and supply requirements of all serviceable to assets and prepare PM kits used to help eliminate wasted time and materials for all maintenance organization. Participate on teams and committees required to support the maintenance organization. Must be able to effectively interact with all plant personnel in order to accomplish plant and individual goals.
SCOPE OF POSITION:
Utilize the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to manage MRO parts, tools. supplies and inventories
Properly receive, put away and disburse all MRO parts, tools and supplies
Maintain excellent levels of customer service
Maintain excellent housekeeping in all areas of accountability
Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
Disburse, maintain and use all tools properly
Support all maintenance activities as needed
Participate on TPM project related teams as needed
Identify and/or corrects potentially hazardous conditions
Ability to safely operate a forklift
Safely perform work, including adherence to Hillshire Brands policies such as lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) and confined space entry
Works closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Planners and Technicians to develop opportunities for continuous improvement (LEAN) positive morale and exceptional levels of customer service
Assist in the development of individual performance objectives
Work cooperatively in a maintenance culture that is focused on continuous improvement (LEAN) positive morale and exceptional levels of customer service
Understand and comply with all applicable Hillshire Brands and governing agency policies by which we manage our business
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED required
College level business courses preferred
2 years’ experience in MRO purchasing and stock room management
2 years’ experience working with a CMMS experience a plus- Maximo preferred
Prior high-speed manufacturing experience is a plus
General understanding of industrial mechanical and electrical systems preferred
Ability to negotiate favorable price points for MRO tools, parts and supplies
Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word/Excel, etc.)
Basic understanding of OSHA regulations
Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations
Demonstrated critical thinking skills
Root Cause problem solving skills a plus
Basic understanding of industrial mechanical/electrical systems
Basic understanding of the use of hand tools
Ability to work variable shifts, weekends and/or holidays
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to repeatedly manually stack 40lb. boxes to proper pallet height.
Be able to bend, twist and stand for long periods of time.
