Job Description:

What is the purpose of this role?

Pipefitter craft persons have the primary role of fabricating and repairing of equipment for the operating facilities. This work will be completed in a safe, environmentally sound, and cost-effective manner utilizing the principles of the GAME-ME Process, Management of Change, and the Quality Improvement Process. This craft role is established to clarify evolving expectations and encourage maximum individual contributions.

What are we looking for from the successful candidate?

Key to this objective is the craft worker’s job knowledge and application of this knowledge, Pipefitter Craft persons are expected to know and understand all the fore mentioned processes, and the repair standards for all equipment worked within their craft line.

In addition, Craft persons are responsible for:

Working with their supervisor to maintain their proficiency within their craft.

Learning and maintaining craft skills associated with their jobs.

Be receptive to coaching and work towards continuous improvement of their skills and knowledge.

Accountable for all their actions and responsible for meeting the performance standards and requirements set by management.

What are some of the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities needed to perform this role?

Demonstrate a sound knowledge of all work practices pertaining to the Pipefitter craft.

Demonstrate knowledge and active involvement in the work permitting process and hazard identification.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to use PPE commonly used by the pipe fitter craft; Glow suits, breathing air, etc.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to use hand tools common to the pipe fitter craft.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to safely open a flange, bleeder, vessel, or enclosed equipment.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to properly ensure decontamination of equipment before transporting.

Maintain pipe materials, fittings, tools, and equipment necessary for an efficient craft work.

Safely operate forklift, jacks, chains hoists, tugger hoists, overhead cranes, etc.

Safely work from crane baskets, aerial platforms, etc.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to properly use pneumatic tools such as German Saw, chipping guns, drills, etc.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to properly use electric drills, saws, sewer cleaner grinders, threading machines, etc.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to hydro test pipe details.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to use pipe machines in the main shop for cutting, bending, and threading pipe for fabrication.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to properly install and remove different types of blinds.

Demonstrate knowledge of various pipe sizes, bolt sizes, flange sizes and the proper use of each.

Demonstrate proficiency to properly install and remove gate valves, globe valves, check valves, plug valves, etc.

Demonstrate proficiency to repair or replace stream traps.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to use GSAP.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to draw isometric drawings and/or rough sketches

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to figure take-offs on isometric drawings and provide measurements to other crafts for fabrication.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to estimate material requirements.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to read, understand, and follow manufacturer directions.

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to complete and submit daily work reports and other basic required documents.

What qualifications are looking for in a candidate?

Preference will be given to applicants who have at least 5 yrs. Pipefitter experience

Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills required to work well and influence others internal and external to the company.

Work at heights and confined spaces.

Ability to handle weights up to 50 pounds frequently

What other attributes and abilities are needed?

Some overtime and after-hours coverage required.

Willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and be on-call to respond to emergencies when required.

Able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces.

Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather.

Ability to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

Willing to comply with Shell's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.

Willing to work in a diverse and team-oriented environment.

This position reports to the AFC and DC in the Routine Maintenance Department at our Shell Deer Park. This position will work a weekday schedule with selected overtime.

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis now and in the future without requiring sponsorship

Ability to communicate effectively

Must be at least 18 years of age
