Lab Asst Ii','213160','Chemistry - Automated','Washington-Seattle','Days','20 hours per week','20 hours per week','1:00p - 5:00p','1:00p - 5:00p','Monday - Friday','Monday - Friday','','','!*!In this part-time Lab Assistant II role, you will perform pre-analytical processing of patient samples based on established laboratory procedures. In addition, you will communicate pertinent laboratory information to healthcare providers including patient test results or established laboratory practices. You will work Monday - Friday from 1p - 5p.
Receive specimens and request for testing.
Evaluate requests for accuracy and completeness, placing orders, verifying labeling/identification, and following appropriate protocol in handling specimens.
Verify the correct specimen type; handles appropriately and appropriately prioritizes. May record workloads.
Prepare solutions and reagents for pre-analytical testing.
Monitor inventory levels, order materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures. Verify orders upon receipt.
Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment.
Prepare/distribute routine reports.
Provide telephone services to ensure that the needs of the callers are satisfied.

High School Diploma or GED.
The ability to handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment, to work quickly and accurately.
The ability to work independently.
Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team.
Strong computer skills.
Working knowledge of science and the medical discipline.
A working knowledge of specimen collection, and handling requirements for all assays performed at VMMC. Working knowledge of Biosafety Level 2 protocols.
