This team member is required to perform all jobs in inedible and edible rendering. Tasks in inedible rendering include cleaning which may require the use of chemicals, shovels, and hoses; setting up, tearing down, monitoring, and maintaining equipment such as cooker operator, presses, chokes, steam lines, hash gut system, and hair hydrolyzer. Other tasks include loading and unloading trucks, inspecting, charting, taking inventory, and documenting product samples. Tasks in edible rendering include tearing down and reassembling equipment for it to be cleaned, sanitized, and be ready for Quality Assurance inspection every morning. Product samples of edible lard are taken to the lab to assure quality of product.
Tasks in inedible and edible rendering include moderate to heavy pushing/pulling, reaching, and occasionally lifting to 80 pounds with assistance. The team member must be willing to stand and walk the entire duration of the shift. Tasks are completed inside and outside during all times of the year. The temperature can range as low as 20 degrees below zero or up to 120 degrees depending on the location the task is in. Must be willing to train and become authorized for Lock Out/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and any other required training. Must be willing to train on correct use of chemicals. This team member will fill in when others in this department are absent. Must be able to communicate effectively with management. Must be able to read and understand manuals, execute and document work completed on scheduling sheet. Must be willing to work assigned shifts and weekends
