Campus Dining
invites applications for a
Food Zoo Sanitation Tech (Culinary Associate I)
to assist the dish room supervisor in training and supervising student dish room staff. This person will also provide accurate and skillful dish room and kitchen cleaning and will provide outstanding customer service. This individual will also assist front of house staff in all service areas, including, but not limited to, mainline, beverage area, grill area, waffle bar and dining room attendant. This person will clean and sanitize equipment and assist with inventories and will also clearly and openly communicate with all UMCD staff. This person will also perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and managers. They will contribute to the success of UMCD as an active member of the UMCD team and embrace the philosophies of the UMCD Performance Planning Program. This incumbent will also provide oversight and training of students and temporary staff in the dish room in the absence of the dish room supervisor.
Required Skills:
Ability to communicate and work with a variety of clients.
Excellent communication and guest service skills.
Working knowledge and experience in food service.
Ability to remain productive in a fast-paced environment.
Familiar with operating a commercial dish machine and of cleaners and sanitizing solutions.
Familiar with food safety practices and procedures.
Knowledge and experience using numerous pieces of standard food service equipment.
ServSafe certified or ability to become certified within one year of employment.
Must have the ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times, and be able to work within a very diverse work force.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift materials from floor level to table height, which requires mobility and some physical demands, and work in an environment with noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
Minimum Required Experience:
High School diploma or GED and at least one (1) year dishwashing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
