SUMMARY

Global Management Services, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Motor Vehicle Mechanic Helper for The Denver Federal Center Roads & Grounds/Snow Removal contract in Lakewood, Colorado.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine vehicle and small equipment maintenance checks

Sharpen blades for mowers

Prepare equipment status reports

Repair or replace worn, defective, or broken parts on various equipment

Perform routine oil changes

Keep records of inspections, test results, work performed, and parts used

Assist main mechanic with other repairs as assigned

Willing to assist with special projects outside at assigned by Project Manager

On call availability for snow removal duties

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

High School Diploma

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Most possess a valid state driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be able to discuss equipment problems and repairs with customers

Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures while making mechanical repairs

Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accuracy

Ability to create effective working relationships with all workers

Must be extremely organized and possess a great attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing

Preferred

1 year experience oil changes and/or tire repair

Activities requiring handling and grasping with the hands when performing repairs or maintenance of equipment by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls, and other small parts

Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., and infrequent lifting up to 75 lbs.

Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces

Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

This position requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments and in all weather conditions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.  Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  Accordingly, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Must have reliable transportation to/from work and must be able to obtain access to military installations.

As a condition of employment, candidates must have acceptable background check results and pass a pre-employment drug screening.

This position may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing on an unannounced basis.
