Responsibilities
The Boiler Operator/HVAC Technician is responsible for supporting the Mission and Vision of Ascension by maintaining and operating all HVAC equipment throughout the facility.
Essential Functions
Operate, maintain and repair HVAC equipment, including absorbers, centrifugal, cooling towers and air handling units.
Take readings on all equipment; power house, all mechanical areas. List readings daily on the Boiler Report Sheet.
Prepare boilers for seasonal inspection.
Repair and overhaul all steam equipment, valves and motors.
Perform preventative maintenance duties according to schedule.
Operate and maintain 120 PSI steam boilers and related equipment: Regenerate water softener, refill brine tank with salt Packs pumps and valves Blows down boilers. Perform boiler water treatment. Perform water analysis.
Operate and maintain Generator and Fire Alarm Systems and records findings.
Perform maintenance and repairs on building systems, including piping, electrical and repairs as necessary.
Monitor elevators for proper operation, contact service when needed.

Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Current City of Detroit High Pressure Boiler Operator License, or equivalent at time of hire/transfer date required.
Education:
High school diploma required.
Work Experience:
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blue prints, schematics and manufacturers specifications.
Must be familiar with building maintenance techniques.
Knowledge of safety codes and practices.
