Determines the scope of the work requests including clarification through field work and the originator’s intent and assigning appropriate priority to facilitate effective deployment of resources. Plans a general strategy of the work, such as repair or replace and apply Job Plans where appropriate on file in the CMMS. Plans all work ensuring equipment availability with site scheduler and that work orders have Materials, Special Tools, and Permits where needed etc. Progresses the Work Orders through the proper statuses according to the workflows and practices. Assists in the evaluation of the current maintenance procedures and recommend changes to optimize the maintenance program. Develops, revises and reviews related SOPs and Job Plans for work related areas. Ensures Job Plans are current and in order to apply the proper Preventive, Predictive Maintenance procedures Follows-up with maintenance scheduler to ensure all work is performed and the shift adheres to the job schedule. Assists in planning Major and Minor Site Outages minimizing the Impact to Operations. Keeps in communication with operations and update with information on when their requests will be executed. Works closely with the site scheduler for the given maintenance workload to schedule work to match available manpower and equipment availability avoiding Manufacturing Interruptions. Develops and delivers information as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Analyses the Feedback to Planner resulting from executed Work Orders with the end result of improving continuously the Job Plans delivered to the Technicians. Submit Work Orders, Service Requests, Stock Addition Forms, Requisitions/PO’s where and when needed.
Knowledge & Skills
General knowledge of engineering principles, systems and their application in support of the
maintenance functions.
Strong mechanical aptitude generally attained through studies, practical knowledge of process equipment or in a related discipline, or equivalent.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is a prerequisite. Minimum 8 years’ experience in one or more of the following fields: Clean Utilities Operations/Maintenance, Biopharmaceutical Process Equipment Maintenance, 5S, Experience with the alignment of Manufacturing Schedule with the Maintenance Schedule.
Previous experience using automated work orders and job instructions.
Experience in developing and following up on contracts with outside vendors in the performance of maintenance activities.
Working knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as Maximo, or similar.
Contacts
Frequently interacts with subordinates and functional peer groups at various management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain the cooperation of others and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules. Contact with maintenance, asset management, manufacturing engineering, quality and EH&S groups.
Working Conditions
Incumbent’s primarily work environment is varied with time allocated outside and inside all buildings of this complex and includes potential exposure to hazardous materials and requires the appropriate use of Personal Protection Equipment and Safe Work Practices.
Decision Making
Works on problems of moderate to complex scope in which analysis of situations or data requires review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Acts as advisor to unit employees and becomes actively involved as required to meet schedules or resolve problems. Ensures budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in
schedules and could consume additional cost and personnel to rectify.
Supervision Received
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals and processes to meet objectives. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives and schedules. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to unit policies, and procedures.
Supervision Exercised
Not a supervisor, but may act as a Team Leader on shift or specific job tasks.
