Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in duties concerned with sanitation programs in food processing establishment by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Inspects products and equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards.
Directs food handlers and production personnel in sanitary.
Directs cleaning of equipment and work areas.
Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions.
Examines incoming shipments of food ingredients for foreign matter such as insects, poisons, or dirt, and gathers samples of ingredients for laboratory analysis. Confers with management and production personnel on sanitation problems, and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and purity of product.
Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies. Routes reports to designated plant personnel. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Enforces safety regulations. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Maintains time in Payroll System for the Sanitation Department in the Portwall facility. Maintains Master Sanitation records. Trains new employees on ISO procedures. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Performs activities of workers supervised.
Performs safety meeting for the Sanitation Department in the Portwall facility.
Responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory levels of supplies to a minimum. Responsible for anything that happens after hours, i.e. deliveries.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 1 lead person and multiple non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Oversees TM’s who maintain the outside of the building, parking lot and property. Works in close contact with the contract cleaning Team to make sure everything is done to Tyson Standards for cleaning and sanitizing. Approves Chemical and Labor billing from contract cleaning company.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAVEL: May include 1-3 trips per year
