Job Description:
What is the purpose of the Operator Northern California role?
The Terminal Operator is expected to safely perform all operator duties related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of petroleum products at the Stockton Terminal.
Where You Fit In
Northern California Terminals – this requires working varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and call-outs as needed.
Provides Asset Management Systems and regulatory inspections for Terminal and Pipeline assets.
The Terminals have a daily throughput of approximately 15K bbls of Gasoline, Ethanol, Diesel, Biodiesel and Jet Fuel.
The complex has a total of 13 storage tanks with a total capacity of 112 K bbls.
What types of work does this role perform?
Climbing 56’ high storage tanks for gauging & sampling multiple times a day.
Performing quality assurance tests on petroleum products.
Perform general maintenance throughout the terminal including electrical, mechanical equipment.
Perform periodic inspections of transport trailers, storage tanks and pipelines.
Computer input into various programs.
Stock accounting of product inventories, shipments and receipts.
General housekeeping.
Issue work permits and oversee contractor safety performance.
Assist truck drivers with loading problems, and the training and issuing driver loading cards.
Communicate with various internal- and external- customers, including external 3rd parties, Houston Control Center, Supply, HSSE, Measurement etc.
Support local community safety and public awareness programs
Continually demonstrate a strong commitment and maintain compliance with the Golden Rules, Shell’s procedures/requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements (DOT, EPA, city, state, etc.)

What types of attributes and experiences are needed?
Must be able to legally work in the United States
Requires exceptional safety attitude.
Operational experience and familiarity with Terminals and pipeline operations is strongly desired.
High School or GED preferred.
This position often works alone and is unsupervised, requiring a motivated self-starter with good time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to prioritize work.
Must be able to obtain qualifications on DOT and Font Line Barrier Management (FLBM) covered tasks.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work.
Must be able to lift heavy objects over 35 pounds.
Meet the job’s physical qualifications.
Possess and maintain a valid and current driver’s license.
Working outside in the variable and adverse weather (heat, cold, rain.)
