Food Service Worker Jobs description
A food service worker prepares menu items from written recipes and other verbal directions from the head chef. Other duties of a food service worker include deciding on scheduling of daily food production; ensure timely and quality service of menu items; effectively using time between workloads; packing food properly for transportation if required; serving food to customers; and reporting necessary equipment repairs, maintenance, and supply needs to the food service director. Work involves lifting and/or otherwise moving cases, pans of food, and other materials, and implementing a safe and sanitary work environment by following standard operating procedures (SOP).A food service worker may require a high school diploma or GED. Certificate in food safety and sanitation may be essential for some jobs. Experience in quantity food production and preparation is important. A food service worker should have knowledge of measuring, weighing, and operating equipment in a production kitchen.
