For those in driving careers driving is not just a job but a privilege of driving someone's life. Safety practices save lives. Seat belts have been proven in crash dummy tests to save many lives.

Head on collisions are the worst, for the force of the speed of each vehicle is doubled. When in an accident, the seat belt and airbags keep passengers and the driver from being ejected through a window or door. Keeping doors locked while a car or truck is in motion keeps childrens and passengers from accidents.

Distractions to the driver might be something as simple as a bee or wasp flying into an open window, or a phone call, or a flashing road sign. Hence, as in driving career you have to be extra cautious.

Many drivers are not familiar with the area traveled, so watch out for out of state tags. Know each place you drive in and their roadway signs. Railway crossings are especially dangerous because a train is so large they cannot stop and may carry your stranded vehicle many feet with you inside.

If a person driving is impaired, keep your distance. Drunk or high driving kills so many innocent persons, the laws are there to protect. Yet, sadly, people choose to drive instead of calling a sober friend or taxi.

Taking a defensive driving test will probably save on your insurance rates. If your license needs renewing, do not wait. Keep up with your vehicle maintenance or you may become stranded on a highway or roadway. Brakes and good tires are very important. So are the fluids such as oil. Fuses are cheap and lights being out on the vehicle may cause an accident. Your battery keeps the electrical system working, so keep up to date on it. Take the old one in for some money. It is called a core. Be careful when working on your own car or truck for overheated radiators may cause severe burns. A battery can explode if not jumped properly.

Speed limits are for the best weather, so obey them. Icy roads, fog and smoke filled roadways cause multiple pileups and accidents each year. If you have a cell phone, to ignore it while driving is best for it is a distraction. The eyes are most important in driving, so get your eyes checked at least twice a year. These exams are not that expensive and most doctors of optometry will let you make small payments. Road rage is when you and another driver have a confrontation. Driving too close behind another vehicle is very dangerous for if the driver ahead must make a sudden stop, you will rear end them.

These are a few safety tips to keep roadways safe for all. Be courteous for driving is a privilege. Wrong driving may cost you your life or the life of someone you care about. Personally, I cannot count how many friends I have lost over the years because they were speeding or disobeying the laws.
