All in driver jobs should know that there are two things that certainly should not go together - drinking and driving. Drunk driving is the act of operating any vehicle while you are intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol. Not only does it pose a threat to your own safety but also to the lives and safety of other people as well seated in your cab.

You will easily be caught by authorities if you are drunk-driving. Police authorities can easily tell if someone might be driving under the influence. There are several indications that a police patrol will notice if you are driving your vehicle in a reckless manner. These include swerving unnecessarily or just by driving your car over speed limits. These are only some of the obvious ways on how you will be spotted by an officer.

You can be charged and convicted of Driving Under the Influence or DUI if you are caught and proven to be drunk driving. The law applies not only to cars but also to airplanes, boats, bicycles, or even while riding a horse or a horse drawn vehicle. Any type of vehicle when operated while drunk which can put other people and yourself in harm is subject to the laws that prohibit DUI.

Several tests are given to drunk-driving suspects. The standard Field Sobriety Test is the most common test given. The results are based on the judgment of the arresting officer. Suspects of drunk-driving are required to walk a straight line with their heels to their toes or just standing for 30 seconds on one leg. Sometimes the results may not be that accurate since these are merely based on the subjective sobriety opinion of the arresting officer. Due to this, other methods were formulated.

Be extra cautious, in driving jobs, because drunk-driving suspects will now have their breath tested for alcohol, or even their blood tested for alcohol concentration. A percentage value is given by testing kits. If you happen to exceed the limit as implied by the laws in your country then you will be convicted of drunk driving. Today, some countries will not charge you of drunk driving if you passed the field test, and your blood alcohol does not exceed .08 percent of alcohol. This is quite contrary in some countries where having alcohol content in their blood while driving is totally forbidden. In most cases these countries have far less alcohol related accidents.

In case you are planning to drink, you might as well get a cab home or get someone who does not drink to go with you. Have him drive you home rather than suffer the consequences of drunk driving.
